About me

Hi! My name is Elsa Erickson. I grew up in a suburb known as Evanston just outside of Chicago. For as long as I can remember I've been hands-on working with art. From kindergarten to eighth grade I attended the Chicago Waldorf School where my love for art grew immensely. On top of this, my mom also is an artist so I would be doing art inside and outside of school. I learned how to use many forms of art such as welding, textiles, sketching, painting, ceramics, knitting and crocheting, etc. My mom has always been my inspiration as I grew and learned the different types of art.

Artist Statement

When I added this course to my classes, I had no idea how to even start designing digitally. I have never learned how to work with digital art so I am excited to learn new techniques this semester. Whenever I begin an art piece I start by open-minded brainstorm to get an idea of where to start. From there, I never have a full idea of where my piece will take me. I just begin and see where it goes. Art has helped me throughout my entire life. I use it as a way to destress and escape reality for some time. When I am fully absorbed in my art piece time flies by. As I grew older, I realized that whatever I did in the future, I wanted to include creative and artistic mediums. I took extensive courses through Palette & Chisel Art Academy of Chicago. These courses consisted of life painting where I learned the art of using color to depict a scene rather than outlining and filling in. My passion for art continuously grows as I learn new ways for which it can be used.
